HKHS 75th Anniversary Digital Storybook

Embarking on a collaborative journey with Lion Head Culture, we proudly present the Hong Kong Housing Society 75th Anniversary Digital Storybook. A testament to shared creativity and innovation, this project brings to life the digital iteration of the iconic 75th Anniversary Commemorative Storybook for our esteemed client, Hong Kong Housing Society.

With Lion Head Culture’s content and design expertise harmonising seamlessly with our UI/UX acumen, we were entrusted with the task of transmuting traditional paper content into a captivating digital presentation.

The challenge lay in the integration of a fold-out page from the tangible storybook into the digital flipping book format. Our creative minds ingeniously devised a bespoke slider handler for larger screens. This inventive solution enabled users to control the viewport, simulating the long-page feel while retaining the essence of the fold-out experience. Here, ingenuity met interface design, reimagining conventions for a touch of magic.

Striving to provide optimal user experiences across varied devices, we confronted the challenge of diverse screen sizes. For larger screens, we introduced a dynamic flipping book feature, enabling intuitive page navigation. Smaller screens received a scroll-based approach, aligning with mobile user behaviour. This dual approach ensured consistent accessibility and interaction while tailoring the experience to each user’s device.

Navigating the technical intricacies of text selection within a styled book format and flipping book interaction posed a considerable challenge. However, with our technical finesse and problem-solving agility, we came up with a twofold solution, combining text selection with flipping book controls. With on-demand loading and image-to-text conversion, we ensured seamless interactivity, preventing performance bottlenecks.

The final content alignment with the tangible storybook under a tight timeline demanded quick adaptations. Through our Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) solution, we orchestrated swift updates and reviews. This, coupled with our team’s agile approach, allowed us to meet deadlines without compromising quality. Our commitment to efficiency and timely execution was further underscored by the power of streamlined processes.
